Do I need to drill my Fortuner's roof to fit this rack?
It depends on your model. On the GXL and Crusade, no drilling is needed. The GX is different: you'll need to drill holes in the roof to mount the rack. If that's not something you want to tackle, find a fitter near you on our Where to Buy page.
How long does it take to fit a Scout rack to a Fortuner?
Allow around five hours, so it's best to make a day of it. Read through the fitting instructions (PDF) first so you know what you're in for.
How much can I carry on my Fortuner roof rack?
The Scout rack is rated to 120kg dynamic and 320kg static, with an off road rating of 80kg. Take off the 28kg rack and you've got 52kg for off road trips and 92kg on road. Check Toyota's roof load limit for your Fortuner too, and go by whichever number is lower. That's the one that counts for insurance.
Will the rack make my Fortuner much taller?
The rack adds only 90mm to the height of your Fortuner. The low profile design cuts wind resistance, so it stays quiet at highway speeds.
How much usable space is on the rack?
The usable storage area is 1830mm by 1100mm. Seven T slot aluminium rails take standard M8 nuts and bolts, so you can position tie downs and accessories exactly where you want them.
Can I put a light bar on the Fortuner rack?
Yes, pick the Fortuner light bar wind deflector kit when you order and you can run a single or double row LED bar up to 42 inches across the front of the rack.
